THE ED BELL AWARD IS NAMED AFTER A LOCAL HALL OF FAMER WHO SPENT 40 YEARS COACHING AND FOUNDING THE BROCKVILLE BLAZERS.  MR. BELL WAS INDUCTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME IN BROCKVILLE IN 2012.

THE WINNER OF THE 2019 ED BELL AWARD IS HANNAH BURT. HANNAH STARTED PLAYING BASKETBALL IN GRADE 7 WITH THE BLAZERS.  SHE PLAYED BLAZERS THROUGH GRADE 10 WHERE SHE HELPED HER TEAM WITH MANY TOURNAMENTS.  HANNAH’S HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL CAREER WAS CAPPED OFF THIS YEAR BY LEADING THE ST MARY CRUSADERS TO THE EOSSAA CHAMPIONSHIP AND A TRIP TO OFSSAA.  HANNAH IS OFF TO OTTAWA UNIVERSITY NEXT YEAR TO BEGIN HER BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN HUMAN KINETICS STUDY.

THE JIM VICKERY AWARD WAS CREATED FOR A LOCAL LEGENDARY COACH THAT YOU MAY SEE AROUND THE GYMS FROM TIME TO TIME.  HE HAS RECENTLY BEEN COACHING THE BCI SENIOR BOYS.  JIM IS ALSO A BROCKVILLE AREA SPORTS HALL OF FAME MEMBER.

THE WINNER OF THE 2019 JIM VICKERY AWARD IS A YOUNG MAN THAT STARTED PLAYING BASKETBALL AT THE AGE OF 4 IN THE BLAZERS SYSTEM.  HE HAS BEEN AROUND SMALL BALL, COURTSIDE CAMPS, COACHING ELEMENTARY TEAMS AND HELPING OUT HIS FATHER AND SCHOOL WHENEVER NEEDED.

CARETER REIL’S SUBMISSION FOR THE JIM VICKERY AWARD TALKED ABOUT HIS RESILIENCY AND NEVER GIVING UP DESPITE NOT GETTING A TON OF PLAYING TIME ON SOME VERY GOOD TEAMS.  HE HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE ST MARY CHS SENIOR BOYS TEAMS THAT HAVE WON 4 LGSSAA CHAMPIONSHIPS AND AN EOSSAA TITLE.
