The Ontario Basketball Association’s final tournament ‘The Ontario Cup’ was held in Kingston, Ontario over the weekend. Initial ranking placed the Brockville Blazers Major Midget Boys team 58 out of 83 teams in Ontario. In Division 8 of their OBA Finals they competed against teams from Scarborough, Whitby, and Burlington. Their weekend started off with a bang handily beating the Scarborough High Flyers with a score of 69-53. Their Saturday morning game started off slowly but they came out strong in the second half to beat the Whitby Gladiators 66 to 57. Their late afternoon game was a repeat from a previous tournament in Hamilton. They were successful again defeating the Burlington Panthers 61 to 41. Their Gold Medal game on Sunday afternoon was a repeat of Friday night vs the Scarborough High Flyers. They were only ahead by 2 at the half with a score of 26-24 but turned up the heat in the second half and won 60 to 38 to bring home GOLD. The team would like to extend a huge thanks to their amazing and very dedicated coaches, Dan Bayles and Kendra Walker-Roche.
