On Friday evening the team came out in a tough defensive battle with Arnprior maintaining a narrow lead throughout the game winning by 2. Saturday saw the team defeat the London 86er’s by 12 points. The second game on Saturday was a tough battle against Ancaster as the Blazers trailed by as much as 17 points before using a stiffling defence and opportunistic offence to battle back to within 2 before dropping the game by 2 points. This put the team in second place in their pool. Sunday’s semifinals placed the team up against first place in Pool B, Ottawa Excels as they easily cruised to a 18 point win. The gold medal game saw the Blazers against Huntsville. The Blazers started to roll by halftime before Huntsville came back to within 3 points, but the Blazers finished with a 7 point victory to take the Championship.

Each and every team member had many shining moments whether on the boards, in steals off the press, making that much needed assist or hitting the timely basket. The team’s defense really stepped up – as we know defence wins championships. Special mention goes to Ava Prosser who anchored the offence and anticipated so well on defence. But the posts stepped up and made the opponents’ inside game a non-issue.

As always, a great weekend for the supportive and contributing parents – each and everyone of them were positive and helpful in every capacity, well done and many thanks.
