The Major Bantam Girls came away with the championship at the 2017 Belleville Spirits Hoop Classic after going 5-0 and defeating the Kingston Impact in a hard fought title game.
The girls started the tournament with a 50-10 win over Prince Edward County Clippers. Player of the game was Nyah Robichaud. Their first game on Saturday was a 75-10 win over Lakeshore Lynx with Payton Malone earning the game ball. Their first matchup with Kingston was a 47-16 win with Sydney Jardine and Nyah Robichaud each scoring 9 points. Sunday morning they faced the home team, Belleville Spirits 2 U14 and despite the loud home crowd, the Blazers pulled away with 37-6 win.
In the championship game, Kingston took an early lead but the Blazers size and rebounding led them to a big second half lead and finished with the 37-22 win. A great weekend of basketball and team bonding. The team prepares for league games next weekend and the Chris Paulin Tournament in December.
