The Major Midget Girls overcame a loss to the home team in the round robin to knock off the Belleville Spirits U16 team in the finals 51-48 to win the 2018 Midget Hoop Classic in Belleville.
In the round robin, the girls defeated Smiths Falls Storm and County Clippers and finished 2-1. That set up the rematch on Sunday for Gold with Belleville.
In the championship game, the girls stayed ahead by just enough to close out the game and capture the title.
